Our system consists of an adjustable full wrap sublimation mug heat transfer press, transfer paper, heat tape, color correction software and a true dye sublimation letter/legal size color printer, including a set of dye sublimation inks. The printer uses four separate color cartridges enabling you to only replace the color needed rather than the entire color cartridge. This system will allow you to put your favorite photograph, text, drawing, poem, saying, etc. onto a coffee mug in sparkling full color with resolutions of up to 5760 x 1440 optimized dpi! We accomplish this by using special dye sublimation inks in an Epson C88 ink jet printer. Normal ink jet and bubble jet inks will not work on mugs. The Epson printer uses new high resolution picoliter technology, producing outstanding images at factory rated speeds up to 14 pages per minute in full color. Real world print speeds depend on the size and resolution of the image, but are the fastest available in the dye sublimation market.
Our heavy duty heat transfer press is unique. Its design enables imprinting around the entire mug. The press also opens wider than the average, allowing easier placement and use. It is fully adjustable, accommodating all mugs available on the market. This includes 11 oz, 15 oz, 16 oz mugs and steins. At the heart of the press is the SuperCoil-Microwinding heater technology, a system of embedded heater windings that wind tightly and closely together throughout the entire platen for extremely even heat, fast recovery and fast heat up times. The unit will start up in only a few minutes, and runs constantly at the set temperature, instead of the much lower idle temperature of others. This translates into much faster production times. Unlike other mug presses, that use silicone blankets with short life spans and even shorter warranties, the press boasts an amazing 3-Year / 10,000 mug warranty. The patented stainless steel mug band heater technology has proven to be far more reliable in the field than all other methods.
Unlike ribbon based printers, the cost per print is much less. You only use the amount of ink necessary to produce the image. Ribbon based printers use the entire 3 or 4 color length regardless of the amount of color required for the image, hence their cost per transfer is fixed, generally around $1.00 per mug. Should you print a one color logo the balance of the ribbon is wasted. In our system, only the color needed is used, keeping costs down. Average costs for printing a full color image on one side of a mug is just 50 cents for full color, less if only one or two colors are used in the design. Wholesale mug costs range from $1.00 to $1.85.
Output from any Windows or Mac PC graphic program is printed on matt paper. The paper is placed on the polyester coated mug and put in the heat transfer press for a few minutes. Once the temperature reaches 390 degrees, the dye of the image changes directly to a gas and is forced into the surface of the mug. Just peel off the paper and you are done. That's It! The print becomes part of the mug itself and is dishwasher safe and lead free.

What Is True Dye Sublimation?
There are two basic dye sublimation methods, true and second generation. Ribbon based systems use the second generation method. Heat is applied to a ribbon containing dyes forcing an image to a transfer paper. The dyes are heated a second time during the application process. As the dyes go through a heating and cooling process twice, the quality and vividness never match the single generation, or true sublimation method. In the true sublimation method, the dyes are sprayed directly on a carrier paper and are only heated during the final application process. This produces outstanding results. Our system uses true sublimation.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the limitations in the seals of all inkjet cartridges, both factory and ours, once cartridges are installed they may not be removed until empty. The printer must be used only for dye sublimation imaging. Also, as with prints made with all dye sublimation inks, the image does not show the correct final colors. The actual colors appear only when heat and pressure is applied, then they are vibrant. Our inks include automatic color correction software at no additional charge for IBM formatted PC's. No extra steps are required, just press the print button. What you see on the screen is what you get on the mugs. The inks have a UV rating of five years.
Unlike IBM PC's, Mac formatted PC's require a special PhotoShop plug in software, available for just $40 additional and do require an extra step prior to printing.

Dye sublimation inks may be transferred to any substrate made of polyester or with a polyester coating. You are not limited to imprinting just coated coffee mugs with this system. The output may be used to image T-shirts (polyester only or 50/50), mouse pads, metal, plaques, trophies, can coolers, aprons, Christmas stockings, tote bags, pillow shams, coasters, tiles, wall clocks, puppets, puzzles and similar products, using our optional shirt heat transfer machine.
